I’m conducting some research for a school design project dealing with improving mountain safety and would love your feedback! Your answers are completely anonymous and will help shape a proposed design solution to mitigate ski and snowboard accidents.
Thanks in advance for your valuable feedback!
I’m a longtime expert skier and do a lot of backcountry so it takes a lot to dissuade me from going where I want to go. But this sign would definitely make me think twice. The skull and crossbones coupled with the message that I might die in the process would make me consider whether its really worth it.
I do question whether the message “expert skiers only” would dissuade or encourage me to go – I consider myself an expert skier so I would assume that since I am an expert skier it actually might be really fun even though I could die. So, to me, it’s a bit of a mixed message.
I think it would definitely turn back anyone who did not put themselves into the expert category. It’s much more effective than any signage I’ve seen on ski hills to date. A little bit grim but it would be effective.
